65sqmA Restaurant in Ikoyi Since a successful restaurant is more than providing good food and good service, several elements must be considered in designing a space to create the right ambience for rich client experiences.
Elements to be considered in determining the decor include understanding the target market, determining the kind of food that will be served eg a continental menu will have a different feel from a Chinese restaurant, creating the right atmosphere with lighting, decor, space planing etc
Client Brief
Design and furnish a 65sqm space to be used as a restaurantserving 2 different types of client needs.
Provide a casual setting for the client needing a fast turn around lunch hour service and more formal and leisurely evening dining experience.
Use an adjoining inner room to create a dual purpose space suitable for private dining or small board meetings.
OAL solution
Create 2 different colour schemes and furnishing for a casual dining ground floor space in lime green tones and a formal dining space on 1st floor in turquoise and gold colours.
Design a dual purpose private dining / business meeting room.
Provide guest welcome area demarcated from main restaurant hall by foliage in large planters.
Fit out ground floor for casual dining with banquettes and individual tables suitable for couples or families.
Decorate ground floor walls with fun posters and artwork.
Provide secure and visually pleasing steel and wood facade incorporating plants in troughs.
Use of select lighting to provide ambience including contemporary pendant chandelier with alternating drops and coloured balls.
Design of upper floor for formal dining with plush turquoise fabrics, wall paper and artwork.
